Evaluation 2

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

In order for me to evaluate how social groups are represented in my media product I compared my main character to other similar character roles of films with the same genre as my main protagonist. For example, the role of "Ryan" in the movie "Saving Private Ryan" is very similar to my main protagonist. I do feel that the films would attract the same audience, even though there is an age difference I feel that having a younger protagonist is easier to relate to as it reveals the harsh truth of the younger member of the war.

The similar trades in the films, are that we see a older man remember his time in the war and see the war happening. I decided to have my film opening from the point of view of a woman in war times as this would attract more woman than a male point of view therefore, differing to "Saving Private Ryan."

As I didn't have the facilities to be able to film a war scene I filmed my characters running over a bank and having a voice over. I feel that the voice over enables the audience to envision something happening rather than actually watching it, which can be very effective as the audience have to use their imagination. Similarly, in doing this I have enabled the older women to come and watch this as when interviewing my granny she said that she wouldn't want to watch all the blood and bomb scenes.
