Example 10- The Pacific
I chose these opening titles because it is the best one I have ever seen. I think that there is so many different shots and effects that it would be amazing if I could re-create an opening title sequence like this.
I really like this title because it very different to normal films. It gives me the impression that the chalk represents bombs and throughout the film it become clearer. I think that the fact that it is being drawn represents the next shot about the man’s face, which then comes into the next few shots.I really like these 3 shots because I think that they are really well put together. I think that the effect of the mans face being drawn and then coming into focus really draws the audience into the film. I also think that it brings out some really strong emotion in the film as we are really close to his face and then we see the transition of what he is about to be doing. This would be a really amazing thing to re-create and I would really like to do it.
I like this shot because of the closeness of the camera in the big group of people. I think that this is a really effective shot because it makes me feel like I am part of the group of people, which again drags me into the film.
I really like these shots because of the lighting. I think that it is really affective how the shot starts of black and then you hear a lightning sound and then the shot come up. This really grabs my attention and draws me into the film.
Again I love these shots because of the affect. They look so well drawn and then they come into focus and you really are intrigued by it.
I think that this shot is really affective because of the lighting. I think that because of the background being dark and then there being a very subtle bomb sound and the red colour coming in it represents the blood being shed. I think that the scattered ground is really affective as it is very noticeable and makes you realize what is happening. I think that the second and third shots go really well with the first because it almost looks like the chalk being broken off is like a bomb going off and I think that this makes it look really cool as it goes from the war to the chalk, which I think is really affective. This really re-inforces my idea of the chalk representing bombs.
I think that this shot is really cool because as I said about the last shot I think that there is a connection with the chalk and the actual war and in this shot they are both there. This is a really affective camera angle and I think it is a very clever shot. I would like to have a split screen like this in my opening titles because it is really affective.
Example 9- The Fall
I chose these opening titles because there are many different camera angles that could be chosen and I think that it really draws you into the film and makes it more exciting to watch. I also really like the fact that the whole of the opening titles is in slow motion, as it gives you time to really take it all in and watch what is happening.
I like this shot because of the title appearing as well. I think that it is really nice how the title comes into focus and then the man wipes it away with his hat. This is really cool and I think that I would like to try to do something like this in my opening titles.I think that this shot is really nice because of the camera angle. I think that because the camera is close into the action you can see what is going on. I think that is also really affective how the one man at the front is looking in a different direction to everyone else which leads into the next shot.
I think that this shot is absolutely incredible because of the lighting. I like huge shadow on the water and I think that the camera positioning makes it seem like we are part of the action at the top looking down on the two men.
I like this shot because I like how it jumps from us looking down on the people to us looking up at the train. I think that it is really affective because we get to see both angles so we can really take in the surroundings.
I love the camera positioning in this shot. I think that it is really cool and it almost looks like the man is asking us to pass him something, which makes me feel like we are part of the film.
I really like this shot because of the camera angle. It looks like we are looking up at it, as if it is almost really important.
I think that this shot is really cool because of the close up on the necklace and the shadow it is creating. I would love to have a shot like this in my opening titles because I think that it is a really interesting shot.
Example 8- The Boat That Rocked
I chose this trailer because I think that with the combination of the music and the dialogue it gives a really fun and exciting atmosphere. I would really like to recreate a opening title like this because it really makes the audience want to watch it and find out about it.
I really like these shots because of the camera jump. I really like how it goes from the far out shot of the people screaming to the very close up shot of a few people screaming. I think that these shots work really well together and it could be done with many other different scenes and shots.
I think that this shot is really cool because it is at a different angle from the shots that have been shown so far. I think that the camera angle shows that we are looking down on the radio set which kind of makes it look like we are controlling it, which makes it feel like we are part of the film.
I like this shot because of the camera angle. Again I like how it is positioned because it makes us feel like we are part of the film. I also like the actors faces because they are all looking over at one person which makes it seem like that person is the one we should all remember and he seems like he has the most power.
I really like this shot because of the location and the camera positioning. I think that the location is nice because of the lighting as usually going down an ally way like this it would be creepy but going down this one it seems like nothing is going to happen and the camera positioning gives the impression that they are all coming for us which for me really draws me into the film.
I absolutely love the closeness of this shot. I think that it also works well with the voice over as it says ‘Are you breaking the rules’ and it makes me feel like the question is being asked to us, which makes us feel like part of the film.
I really love the titles of this film because it isn’t just the writing like normal it seems like it is part of the film because nothing stops to let the writing come in. I would really like a title like this in mine because it makes it more interesting for people to watch.
Example 7- Something Borrowed
I chose this trailer because there are many different affects used with the pictures which makes the whole thing much more exciting. I also really like how the music goes completely with the changing pictures, it really adds to the affect. I also love all the different kinds of locations.
I really like the location of this shot because you can really see the whole of the city and it makes it look really impressive. I think that the fact that it is dark really adds to the affect of the buildings being huge and somewhat important possibly in the film.I like the camera focus and the voice over in this shot. I think that they work really well together because as the man is running down towards the girl the voice over says ‘That was the day I let true love slip away’ and I think that because the of fact that he is out of focus makes it feel like he isn’t really there and is slipping away out of focus.
I think that these shots are really interesting because as the music’s beat comes in the shots change. I really like this because it makes the shots much more interesting to look at and also it really quickly goes into another location, which makes us want to watch it more closely. I also really like the camera positioning as it really feels like we are the person that the part is being thrown for which really drags us into the film. I would love to have an affect like this in my film to make it appeal more to others.
Again I really like the affect on the camera shots. It also goes very well with the music and it gives the whole film a bit more excitement than just watching a plain trailer.
I like this shot because of the location. I think that I like it because it looks like just a normal thing that people would do together and it doesn’t make it look like it is in a film. I think that this would be really nice to have a shot like this in my film as it will make it look really naturalistic rather than completely staged.
I think that this shot is really nice because of the lighting affect. I think that the little dots of light really bring out the emotion that is in the shot, and it makes the whole plot of the film really noticeable to us.
I really like the location of this shot. I think that it is really affective her being by herself as it really represents her being alone and I think that even though the shot is at a distance from the person it really brings out the emotion of what is happening in the film. However it would be very hard to re-create this again, which I would like to try and do.
Example 6- My Sisters Keeper
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS55xHZWzEo
I really like the effect of the picture fading away. I think that it looks a lot better than a picture just sliding out and it gives the audience more to look at. I think that the half black screen looks really good because the audience will look at the picture/filming and then get a better idea of the story.
I think that this shot is really affective because it looks like the shots are filmed off a hand held camera and makes it feel like the whole story is really involving us. It makes me feel like we can really relate to the voice over and what is actually happening.
I absolutely love these shots because of the camera angles, because of the actor’s expressions and the location. For the first, I love the closeness of the camera to the actors because it really brings you into the emotion in the film and makes you feel part of the family. The actors really make you feel like they are a family as their expressions are really happy towards the other person and they are really embracing each other. For the second, the thing that really catches my eye is the location as it really makes you feel like you are in the family home and with the affect of the actors expressions and the camera shot it gives of a really warm and pleasant atmosphere.
I really like this shot because of the lighting affect. I think that it is really affective as the darkness of the shot really outlines the figure of the child which gives me a feeling of the child being there but in her own little world which may represent the story line.
I chose these opening titles because I think that it really tells you what the story line is which I like, and there are so many different locations and facial expressions on the actresses/actors faces that is it really draws you in. I also like the fact that there are some bits recorded as if on a hand held camera, which also makes you feel like part of the family.
I really like this shot because of the angle of the camera. I think that looking up to it feels like we are the ones who are flying it and immediately we feel like we are part of the film. I also like it because it could potentially represent the loneliness of the girl in the film, as it is the only thing we can see.I really like the effect of the picture fading away.
I really like this shot because of the lighting affect. I think that it is really affective as the darkness of the shot really outlines the figure of the child which gives me a feeling of the child being there but in her own little world which may represent the story line.
I really like these two shots because they both look like they are in books, which really adds to the story line because it is about children and they love to read so it makes me feel more involved in the story and it is like the book is being shown to us through the film. I would really like to have a shot like this in my film because I feel that it is more that just plain ordinary and makes it more interesting to look at.
Example 5- I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry
I chose this trailer because I absolutely love the film and I think that there are many different shots that could be incorporated into my opening tiles.
Straight away you get dragged into the film with the writing on the side of the pictures. I really like the way that the picture is split to show clearly who each character is and I am thinking if I do a comedy I would love to try and do this for my opening. I think that it is really clever how the picture crosses over into the other half so that we can see both of the men and we can get a glimpse of the picture together as it is passing through one another.
I think that it is really affective having the camera at an angle looking up slightly towards the building as this gives me the impression that the buildings, or the contents of it, are very significant in the film.
I like this shot because of the location. It makes the whole thing feel very naturalistic and like it is actually happening rather than acting, and the angle also makes me feel like we are part of the house kind of watching them go through this.
Again I really like shots like this because of the focus on the two mean talking. I think that it really shows that they are important as they are the complete focus in the shot and it really draws our attention to them rather than the background.
I absolutely love this shot because it adds to the humor of the whole trailer as it is really incorporating the wedding cake and two men on top, even though they are both totally straight. I really like the writing as it shows the wedding writing and the writing that has been used throughout the whole of the trailer.
